I don’t know where the time goes! From my last post until now, so much has happened! There were quite a few school visits throughout NJ, NY, and PA, several bookstore signings, a half dozen library workshops, two book festivals, and most recently I have completed the final edits for my next picture book, Hanging Out with Gram. YAY!
Let’s talk about Hanging Out with Gram!
Mateo plans a calm, relaxing day for his sweet old Gram . . . but his adventurous grandmother has ideas of her own! Gram encourages Mateo to be more active, and together they take on exciting challenges, learning new things about each other along the way. Hanging Out with Gram is a multigenerational story that is perfect for kindhearted kids and young-at-heart grandparents.
As you might have guessed this book is not your average grandparent story. I hope it starts a conversation about how grandparents interact with their grandchildren today. Gone is the stereotypical portrayal of a gray-haired, wrinkled Grandma with a cane, rocking, baking, knitting, or gardening. The grandmothers today take on crazy-active roles as they care for their grandchildren, from helping to raise them to introducing them to new adventures.
Stay tuned for the cover reveal on Grandparents Day, September 7th. The book will be released in April 2026. Follow me on Instagram for updates. @NancyViau1.
Keep up the good work Grandmas, Grandpops, Grannies, Granddads, Nanas, Pop, Pops, and MomMoms. .
