The Rutgers University Council on Children’s Literature

I am proud to be on the council that helps to produce the One-On-One Plus Conference for aspiring children’s book authors and illustrators. The conference, now celebrating its 50th anniversary, pairs agents and editors with writers/illustrators and offers mentoring opportunities in the form of hour-long one-on-one critique sessions and a five-on-five sessions where five professionals interact with five attendees.

This weekend’s conference was phenomenal. The day went by so fast and ended with an amazing and inspirational keynote by the award-winning author of middle-grade novels, Wendy Mass. If you ever get the opportunity to hear about Wendy’s writing process, don’t hesitate to go!

A few mentors took a couple of minutes to let loose, step outside, and enjoy the fall weather. Pictured from left to right: Me, Beth Ferry, Tara Lazar, and Annie Silvestro.

HAPPY FALL!
